Help my friend

Hey, guys I haven't written in a while. I will be posting more to give you an update on what I'm doing but right now I have a little favor to ask you. So, when I was a Freshman at my performing arts school. I had an amazing Senior class and my friend Billy was apart of it. She probally was one of the most amazing performers I have seen step on a stage what she can do with a character is beyond belief and I know whatever she does she will be a success at it, but right now she needs our help she needs to raise money to stay at Drew University where she is studying theater and where she was a lead character in "A raisin in the sun", so obviously she is doing quite well. So this is where you all come in my trusty blog readers you people have supported my interview series and I am asking you all to help her the way you all have helped me, but you only have 6 hours to do it. YEAH!!!! that's right 6 HOURS. You all don't have to donate anything if you don't have it but you could make sure that as many people know about her as possible. So, heres the link http://www.indiegogo.com/keepthedreamalive?c=home , if you all could go to it put it on your facebook that would be great!!!! 6 hours people to raise $555.000 we can do it guys.  and GO!!!!

Army Navy Interview

Hey,

I haven't posted in a while but I'm supper busy with my Senior year, and getting my life together lol. I'm really excited to say that we have shot another episode of A.O.W. and I'm super excited because we have Army navy one of the coolest bands. They are kind of what I think of when I think of a band who is living a "Band life", What I mean by that is that they go on tour ,their songs are in movies, but they still have to work a normal job and use their own money to fund their band and really all that is driving them is their fans and their will to do it. I thought it was very important to have them on the series because I feel like some people get in the entertainment industry for the money and with the perception that if you get one success that it's smooth sailing. I wanted to show you a band that is very successful in their own right but are successful from their hard work and that just because your successful doesn't mean that you are making millions of dollars. I have to say that these guys were soooo cool they were willing to do an interview at Popeyes. I don't know I really saw a since of family and they really taught me a lot when it comes to just doing what you love and keeping it going no matter what. So, here it is guys A.O.W's interview with Army navy.

P.S check out the new camera equipment.

Warped Tour Recap

Warped tour the place where everyone can be excepted no matter how many tattoos you have or what color your hair is. This year I went to Warped tour in Maryland and I have to honestly say you have to go once in your life time. It was my first warped tour so I saw like 11 bands I feel like each time you do it you'll do it differently. It is an experience all its own the only thing is scheduling because you have to stage hop a lot and if you're not careful you can miss the bands you want to see. I missed we are the kings for pierce the veil but I mean I had to make a choice. And I got to meet Travis so it was ok. Another thing is pick who you go with wisely because if you do not you will leave frustrated and you won't have as much fun. When I went it was hot and it actually rained but I think that added to the experience. I had a little bit of a time with the pit because I mean it was the pit and I was down there for every song. I actually got kicked in the face I got landed on. It just was crazy but it was fun. I didn't crowd surf but I moshed involuntarily I kind of got pushed into the mosh pit and I had to fight my way out but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be it was actually pretty fun. My favorite bands were falling in reverse, All Time low, sleeping with Sirens, Breathe Carolina, and of Mice and men. So I would say go to warped tour, Bring lots of water,  and make sure you go with people that are down for anything and don't mind walking, fighting or being down in the pit, because you have to mosh, crowd surf and be in the pit one of those while you are there if not what's the point of going to warped tour?

Michelah's book club #4: Letters to a young Artist

SO, I recently finished this book (like two seconds ago) and the book was a reading assignment but I never read during the summer when I was about to start my Freshman year. As I said before I have a bunch of books and I try to read books at the right time in my life where I feel like it is going to mean the most for me. At this point in my life I am going to be a senior in High School I have one more year to really hone my craft in the comfort of home until I am pushed out into the comfort of a dorm room. I am embarking on a new part of my career in creating my own play for my senior project and I am creating my own interview series that I want to reach out to people around the world I think reading this book was perfect timing. I read this book not really as a story but more of a how to guide. I had my red pen in hand every time I read High lighting every thing I thought was interesting. The book really gives you an inside look of the life of an Artist. Unlike how to be an actor books the book is about Artistry in all it's glory do you have to be alienated to be an artist? Why do I see the world the way I do? All of these questions were answered in this book. If you are an artist you should read this book if you're not an artist you should read this book. It doesn't only talk about art it talks about being open to the world in more ways that one, and just being present in life.

Their eyes were watching God Movie review

Hey, guys I have so many books and movie to review for you guys so I have to catch up but, for all of you that don't read my blog I review movies to recommend it for you all I'm not trying to change your opinion as some people have said I am just giving you my opinion on the movie or the book so here we go. The movie their eyes were watching God is originally a book By Zora Neale Hurston a book I haven't read so this review is just solely on the movie.

The movie is about a girl names Janie Crawford's (Halle Berry) quest to finding herself in my opinion. She is married off very young to a really old man by her Grandmother (Ruby Dee), who I think thought she was doing the best thing for her Grandaughter. I don't really dislike her Grandmother she thought she was doing the best thing for Janie. After she is married she decides to leave her husband for another man Joe Starks (Ruben Santiago Hudson) He has ambition and drive and he promises to take her to see the world. Their first stop is a town for Colored people which he decides to build up and after a few years Janie starts to see a change in him he loses the drive he had he's losing his sense of adventure the whole reason she fell in love with him. He see's the other men lusting after her and makes her cover up her head with a cloth basically covering up her freedom and therefore who she is as a person. Janie is getting tired and is falling out of love with him and she stays with him until he dies. A new guy comes to town named tea cake (Micheal Ealy). She slowly begins to fall for him besides their drastic age difference. The other women tell her not to but she runs away with him and they go on an adventure of just living life not worrying about where life is taking them. Their home ends up getting hit with a tornado and in the act of saving Janie Tea cake is but by a rabbit dog and she end up having to kill him for her safety.

The writing in this movie is amazing this movie is the true story about just living and if you're not happy with something then you change it. Never giving up on what your initial idea of life was and just living not caring what anyone thinks and being open to what life gives you and being open so it can take you where your meant to go and just follow your heart.

I think this is one of Halle Berry's best performance because I think in some way this story has a lot of similarities to her real life. Sometimes as Artist we have attendance to do things that we relate to. I think she really lived this role because just the fact that she had to play such a range of ages shows how in tune to herself as an actor and how much she pays attention to the behavioral differences of people in general. Micheal Ealy did an amazing job in this movie I think the way him and Halle Berry connected was a cool thing to see on screen because I know they were a real life couple but they were playing two different people on screen so sometimes the contrast is hard to get to mesh.  Some of the people that had smaller roles were good at carrying the movie some examples are Terrence Howard he really did a good job just with the role in some way of pushing and being that kind of creepy guy that is always hitting on you. I also enjoyed the group of women they kind of added a choir affect that are in greek plays. They kind of kept the movie rolling acting as choir.

I do recommend this movie to people that are into those weird kind of hopeless romantics but it is kind of and adult film so I don't recommend you watch it if your like twelve.

The Lovely Bones Movie review

So to follow up on the book review I watched the movie and yes, I had watched the movie before reading the book and then I read the book and then watched the movie. I Really enjoyed the movie a lot more than the book just because the movie was more entertaining. I don't think the movie was not very book accurate because unless you read the book you wouldn't have known that Susie Salmon got raped which made his murders more intense in away. To talk about the actors obviously the star of the movie was Stanley Tucci who plays Mr. Harvey. Some people may disagree but I think the way he made the character mysterious and how you don't really hate Mr. Harvey you just found him to be sick and twisted but yet you wonder why he's doing what he's doing. Saoirse Ronan who plays Susie Salmon Was stunning in her role she really showed the purity of this young girl who was taken from the world without a reason. In the book I think Susie was portrayed as really young and I think in the movie she was good in saying oh yeah I'm fourteen and I'm not crazy but I'm not extremely innocent. Mark Wahlberg showed a different side of his acting in the book the Father is very loving but in someway he seems to just go crazy when his daughter dies. I the Mark Wahlberg didn't play him like that I could see reasoning behind his actions he didn't seem like some crazy mourning dad. This movie really deserves all the hype that it got.

Michelah's book club #3:The Lovely Bones book review

So, guys I have like 60 books that I have bought and that I will try and finish throughout the summer, so let's start with this book The lovely bones now a major motion picture. This book started out kind of slow kind of hard to get into but once I got into I was kind of hooked granted I didn't read this book everyday it still was a good book. I like the way the book was written in a way of letting us know who the murderer was at the begging therefore the anticipation of him being caught was even larger then trying to figure out who the murderer was throughout the book. Alice Sebold is a very dramatic writer she really takes the time to paint a picture with her words. I definently recommend this book to people who aren't afraid of shedding a tear.

Quote #4 "Nothing will come of Nothing", king Lear Shakespeare

I love this quote because it speaks to all things I think. If you find yourself in a bad situation and you do nothing you will stay in a bad situation. I believe it is always good to be doing something it doesn't matter if it's joining a book club or playing cards with friends its always good to do something. Just something to fill your time. Something constructive is always better than not doing anything thing at all.

A Dream Within A Dream

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,

Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

~Edgar Allan Poe

Midnight in Paris review

SO, as everyone that reads my blog knows I had the amazing opportunity to go to Paris last summer and I've always wanted to see this movie but just recently saw it and I was not disappointed I really enjoyed the little cameos of well known actors, such as Adrian brody. Even though he has a really small part he really was memorable. I really enjoyed Marion Cotillard's performance in this film she really showed her style of acting and that she is a powerhouse on screen she has a certain elegance on screen that can't be taught something that just is. I didn't like Rachel McAdams character but I think that's the way the writers wanted I respect her for taking this role because it's hard to be the nagging annoying Girlfriend and for the audience to literally say "shut up", to the screen. Owen Wilson was Owen Wilson in this film. He has done this performance before but I think some people would see that as a negative thing but it just seems to work for him. I do recommend this film for anyone who is in the need to get away from their life for a little while.

Quote #3 ‎

‎"If you love two people at the same time, choose the second one. Because if you really loved the first one, you wouldn't have fallen for the first.", Johnny Depp

I like this quote but I'm not sure if I agree with it. I mean is that really how it is you truly have to be in live with the first one to not fall for the second one? I mean look at the Notebook she really love Noah, but then she fell for the second one but then ended up with the first guy. Idk what if you really live the first one and then you get mad at him or their is distance or something that get's in the way and you find a person you really like but then you really like the other guy. I don't know what do you guys think? DO you agree with the quote I think it's a more complicated situation then the quote says but I do love Johnny Depp and his way of thinking.

Do things yourself

So guys I haven't posted in like forever but as my junior year comes to a close I will have more time. Today I wanted to talk about you financing and investing in your career by yourself. In the business of acting, singing, dancing or any type of art it can become quite pricey and you need to learn how to cut corners with funds without sacrificing the quality of your work. First thing is your reel it is really hard to do this yourself but if you know how then go for it. Voice over if you don't know how to make one you can make one by yourself on your mac , take a class and that will give you a skill that can last you a long time . My main thing is that you don't always have to pay big bucks for things you can learn how to do things yourself without sacrificing the quality of your work, and I think that will come down to the longevity of your career because you need to learn how to figure stuff out, how to market yourself.

ask and you shall recieve

I just want to say something really quickly. The thing I have learned the most with doing my interview series is to ask the worst thing people can say is no, and so what if someone says no you've heard no al your life. My series is no where near as big as some of the other series heck my channel only has 43 subscribers and Artist of The world has a grand total of 3. All you can do is ask I think once you do some soul searching and you identify what you want to do in life that you can figure out who to direct your questions to the right people and know what to ask of them. You can't live life afraid to jump in sometimes you have to just jump and hope that theres solid ground to catch you.

Saying yes or no to a role

Ok, So, I've been watching a few interview with some actors and talking to a few people and I have heard some people say "You must choose your roles wisely", which is true, but if acting is not your main source of income you probally should take what you can get as long as it doesn't compromise who you are a person. Now some jobs will not pay you and you have to decide whether to take that or not. The way I see it is the more you are on the stage the more comfortable you are and the more recognition you get. You have to ask yourself is it worth it. Acting shouldn't always be about making money it should be about learning and experiencing and doing it because you love it, and who knows maybe that one small job will lead you to your big break.

Best poems ever

  • ALICE : You would always wear these orange butterflies and aqua sequins ensconced tween slight bosoms silk roses dartin from behind your ears. The passion flower of you meandered down hoover street past dark shuttered houses where women from Louisiana shelled peas round three o’clock and sent their sons whistlin to the store for fatback and black-eyed peas. You glittered in heat and seemed to be lookin for rides when you wazn’t and absolutely eyed every man who wazn’t lame, white, or noddin out. Look at you. You let your thigh slip from under your skirt crossin the street. You slowed to be examined. I saw you I watched you sullen. And the rhinestones etching the corners of your mouth suggested tears fresh kisses that had done no good. You always wore your stomach out lined with small iridescent feathers. The hairs round your navel seemed to dance and you didn’t let on that you knew from behind your waist waz aching to be held.
  • TANGIE : You don't know me, I am not a deliberate coquette who never did without. What I want and I wanted to be unforgettable. I wanted to be a memory, a wound to every man arrogant enough to want me. I am the wrath of women in windows fingerin shades. Ol lace curtains camouflaging despair and stretch marks. I glittered honestly delighted I am desired and allowed those especially schemin tactful suitors to experience my body and spirit. Tearin so easily blending with theirs. And they were so happy and lay on my lime sheets full and wet from my tongue. I kissed them reverently even ankles edges of beards... You don't know me
These are from the movie that was a play for colored girls and is by far my favorite pieces .

D.R.U.G.S, Hit the lights, like a moth to a flame,Sparks the Rescue, My Arcadia concert recap

Hey , guys it's that time again I got to go to this amazing concert with these ama
zing bands and even hang out with a few of them so I had some problems with my tickets at the venue so I didn't end
up getting in until late so I missed some of the show. The first band I saw was like a moth to a flame.

They were sooooo good I keep gushing about these concerts because until you all tell me that you have gone to see at least one of these bands in concert you have not lived. Here is me with the lead singer.

They really are a good band just with the chemistry that they have on stage. I ran into him after the show and he was really
cool. I think as a front man you would think he would be this really crazy guy but really he is just really mellow and nice. Which is kind of polar opposite of his on stage persona.

The second band we saw was Hit the light the chemistry on stage and the way they
seemed to interact with the crowd. During the
show there was a fight in the crowd and they managed to get the crowd back in order and jump
ing and singing along with their songs. The stage presence of this band is
amazing and just watching the you can tell that they love what they are doing.

They played my favorite song Earthquake. I was screaming and snapping as many pictures as possible I even got to meet the lead singer after the show I had sooooo much fun.

The last band that we saw was D.R.U.G.S this is the second time I have seen them in concert and again never disapoint. I actually got to interview Nick Martin before the show. I know this is kind of weird but as many bands as I have interviewed before shows I
always expect them to be extremely hype before a show but no he wasn't he was very mellow. When the band got on stage it was a completely different person they always get the crowd going and they have the ability to make you feel apart of the show.
The band is truly a gem and I think we should definently support independent music because these are the people are out there grinding creating music that is truly the essence of who t

hey are but not what a record label wants and what's going to sell records we aren't fans because they cater to us we are fans because they are truly them. So I urge you all go and buy their albums go and see their shows.

Acting Conventions

So, guys I know I usually blog about random stuff but I've noticed that a lot of actors wonder about going to acting conventions and should they go or shouldn't they go. I am just giving my experience and my opinion on them. Me personally I have been to three acting conventions Ipop, and Proscout. I know a lot of you view the reviews and stuff by other people that say IPOP is a scam proscout is a scam but to me a scam is where someone is promising you something and you're not getting it. So my experience with Ipop I did take the classes at John Robert Powers and they were quite expensive but each weekend they did give you auditions with real agents, managers and casting directors. So if you have the money and you don't know where to go with your acting career I guess that's a good start, but I will say that it's not the most impressive thing to have on your resume and it't a lot of money and you will need that in the future if you plan on continuing acting so you want to spend the least amount of money in the begging as you can. Also the classes don't really teach you how to act they teach you how to look good on camera. In someway they were helpful and I did get something out of it,but I recommend taking a local theater class or improv that is much cheaper and has really will teacher you acting techniques. So, Ipop was extremely fun I got to LA I got to stay in a four star hotel. The negatives of Ipop is the fact that there are like 2,000 people there and a lot, I mean a lot of agents and you can't research them all. Plus it's extremely hard to stand out in that sort of atmosphere. Also at IPOP for the final show say your 12 and your 5'9 you can't tryout for the teenager final show because your too young and you probally won't be picked for the kids one because your too tall. I personally got one call back while there but I signed with an agent I met there that didn't call me back. So, Proscout I really liked proscout it's not as expensive as IPOP and it's a lot smaller. They have a smaller number of agents and they give the list of agents before you go so you can research them. Also, the agent list is quite reputable. Some people say it's a scam before the agents are paid. Well, I'm not saying that they are and I' m not saying that they aren't but the fact is whether or not you getting face to face with some high powered agents and that's what it takes. Plus it's a lot easier to follow up on with them because you remember who you met and they sometimes remember you. Plus it's only two days which is better IPOP spreads it out to long. So, I guess what I'm saying is that I like Proscout better but I mean this is just my experience my opinion so I hope I helped you guy.

Quote #2: All around me Hollow men trembling at the thought of falling in~Justin Nozuka

In High School you are around so many people and most of these people are hollow not many people know how to fill the whole within themselves at this point in time. If you hang around hollow people you sometime tend to become hollow yourself and all the things you've worked for in your life to find out who you are become a thing of the past. This quote really defines everyday life in general everything is about choices you can choose to be around people that know who they are and choose to grow as people or you can choose to be around people that don't and don't plan on figuring it out. No one wants to be hollow because you can just walk right through you, you have no substance and therefore you have no meaning. Don't be hollow work on becoming whole.

Guys are dumb

As girls we get so mad at guys for playing these games with us, but in all actuality we let them do it. I honestly think that song "Boys are from Mars, Girls are from Venus", is completely true. Sometimes you look at guys and wonder what were you thinking. I think girls when do stuff we know what where doing, guys honestly have no idea. And they are completely unaware of what's going on. I know girls get jealous and begin to not like a girl but guys can see a pretty girl and think she's the best thing since sliced bread and not even see if she's a horrible person. Girls we have the power if a guys not treating you right don't talk to them. If they get mad give them the finger. If you make an effort they ignore you STOP MAKING AN EFFORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't be a doormat. If you really feel like he hurt you or he's not treating you right mess with him, play games because if your not planning on having that relationship go on don't worry about play it like the best game of poker you have ever played because that's how it's supposed to be. Guys play games with girls all the time and they expect to win but girls we are way more manipulative and a lot better at games then they are I know some people are going to see me as a man hater but I'm not.

My favorite quotes#1:Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase~Martin Luther King, Jr.

This quote really touches my heart, because in all aspects of reality we all have to have faith in something and sometimes we tend to lose faith. In life it's hard to go for something if you can't see the outcome but sometime all it takes for you to accomplish something amazing is to just take that first step and have faith that there will be solid ground underneath your feet at some point.

My attempt to shoot the moon

We tried to shoot the moon
but ended up somewhere in the stars
we thought we lived to die
but I died to live
to watch the sun come into my horizon
and ask the moon to revolve around me.
to watch your face become filled with the sunlight
and feel the ocean breath on my face
I asked you to come along with me
but you chose to stay in the darkness
I thought this was forever but it turned out to be just for
twilight
I chose to have an adventure and live by the moon light
so when you hear the Howell don't mind
because I don't bite.

Fashion diary #4

This outfit was a lastminut thing. I got the shirt from target I absolutely love this shirt. I got the skirt from forever 21. The thigh Highs I got while I was in Avignon I don't know where I got the leg warmers from but the boots are Ralph Lauren. I know this kind of resembles a harajuku girl but IDk I like it.

Michelah's book club Book#2: Girl Interupted

SoI bought his book at a library sale and I watched the movie and I loved it it's actually my favorite movie. This book is really good all teens I think can relate to it not the fact that she was crazy just the fact that she was lost in more ways than one. She was on this path that she didn't want to follow and then she kind of just went off the path and tried to find herself. I like the book and the movie both but the book tells you how the characters are after they left the facility any ways read this book and let me know how you like it.

Michelah's Book club Book #1: Native son

SO I had to read this book for school but it was actually a really good book. The book really let's you know how an African American felt at that time. I thought Richard right did a really good job of not making Bigger Thomas seem like a bad person he really allowed you to see him as a person and explain to you that a good person can do bad things. IDK you all just have to read this book and see how you like it.
